Resumo

The importance of institutional health practices as representative or not of institutional racism in the treatment of the hypertensive client was object of this study. A survey research was conducted and the results showed that perceived discrimination was reported by 15,3% of blacks participants (p=0,01) and the clients who identify the discrimination have a odds ratio that suggest protection. The implications of these results for health professionals and managers are discussed.
