Resumo
Ao longo dos anos, o aparato tecnológico crescente nas Unidades de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal (UTIN) permitiu a sobrevida de recém-nascidos cada vez mais prematuros e enfermos. Paralelamente, observou-se o distanciamento entre bebês hospitalizados e suas famílias, culminando com o acesso restrito dos pais a seus filhos, limitado a poucas horas diárias de contato e interação. Esse distanciamento, entretanto, pode influenciar negativamente na recuperação e no desenvolvimento dos recém-nascidos e lactentes que permanecem hospitalizados por períodos prolongados. Isto porque, atualmente, sabe-se que o papel dos pais é crítico na promoção de desfechos de saúde favoráveis durante a hospitalização e após a alta hospitalar destes recém-nascidos.
