Resumen
Objetivo: Evaluar el conocimiento de los profesionales de enfermería de unidades de terapia intensiva (UTI) sobre la aspiración endotraqueal (AET) por sistema abierto. Método: Estudio exploratorio, descriptivo, de abordaje cuantitativo, realizado en julio de 2011 en dos UTIs de un hospital universitario de importancia en Mato Grosso del Sur. Los datos fueron recolectados a través de un cuestionario. La muestra la constituyen 27 profesionales, de los cuales el 51,9% son de sexo masculino. Resultados: De manera global, el conocimiento de los profesionales se calificó como regular (73,2% de aciertos); no obstante, se consideró como pobre en cinco aspectos, además de presentarse de manera distinta entre las categorías profesionales. Discusión: considerando que el conocimiento incorrecto predispone a comportamientos inadecuados, se infiere que en la práctica, estos sujetos pueden comprometer la seguridad d los pacientes. Conclusión: La muestra presentó déficit de conocimientos sobre la AET, hecho que merece inversiones en el ámbito de la enseñanza y la asistencia en enfermería.Citas
