The editorial flow begins when the manuscript is submitted in the OJS System. Next, an analysis is performed to verify compliance with the mandatory documents (administrative checklist).
Then, the manuscript is forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief/Adjunct, who will decide whether the article is adequate to the scope of the journal; a rejection decision means that the manuscript does not meet the editorial goals of regionality, percentage of article types and/or citation potential, and adequacy to the journal's guidelines.
Once approved in this first scope stage, the manuscript then undergoes a similarity analysis using the iThenticate program. Based on the generated report, the OBJN may contact the author(s) for clarification of the similarities found. If occurrences of plagiarism or self-plagiarism are identified, the article will be rejected. Once the manuscript is fit to proceed in the editorial flow, the author(s) must pay the evaluation fee.
After payment, the texts will be sent to the Associate Editor designated by the Editor-in-Chief/Adjunct. The Associate Editor will assign two peer reviewers to issue reviews anonymously (double anonymous peer review), preserving the anonymity of the author(s) and reviewers.
The opinions issued by the reviewers may consider accepting, rejecting, or requesting adjustments to the manuscript, whether in form or content. The Associate Editor will make a recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief/Adjunct, who will decide on the approval, reformulation, or rejection of the texts, based on the evaluations carried out by the reviewers and the Associate Editor.
It should be noted that a request for adjustments does not indicate the approval of the study. Reformulated studies will undergo a new analysis by the Editor-in-Chief/Adjunct and may be resubmitted to peer review, being able to be approved or rejected at this stage.
After acceptance, the author(s) must pay the publication fee and forward the manuscript and the Title Page for review and translation by one of the companies accredited by the OBJN. The editorial process will only continue for those accompanied by the translation certificate(s) issued by these companies. The OBJN does not accept certificates from external companies.
Immediately upon confirmation of payment of the publication fee and analysis of the review and translation certificates, the article will be forwarded for a standardization checklist, in which the OBJN team will verify its compliance with the journal's guidelines. At this point, the manuscript may be adjusted a maximum of three times to meet the requests. Otherwise, it will be rejected.
Following standardization, the scientific text undergoes pre-publication editorial procedures, such as the production of HTML, PDF, and EPUB, assignment of the DOI, and licensing. Before publication, the authors receive the layout proof for approval and, finally, the article is published on the OBJN website, being available for access freely and in full.
