Copyright, Plagiarism and Retraction Policy

Licensing of works

As of v. 20 (2021), the OBJN adopts the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. This license allows the content of the articles to be copied, distributed, edited, remixed, and used for new creations, including for commercial purposes, provided that due credit is given to the original author(s) and that due publication credits are given to the OBJN.

Copyright

Authors retain the copyright of their manuscripts without restrictions and grant the OBJN the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license. This policy applies to manuscripts published as of October 24, 2026.

Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism Policy

The OBJN condemns plagiarism and self-plagiarism practices. All submitted manuscripts are analyzed using the iThenticate similarity verification program. Manuscripts that present similarities with other already published works will be excluded from the evaluation process. In such situations, the OBJN adopts the guidelines and flows recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Retraction Policy

The OBJN follows the COPE guidelines for retracting articles. An article may be retracted in cases of:

  • Clear evidence of scientific misconduct, such as the fabrication or falsification of data.
  • Plagiarism or self-plagiarism not identified during the evaluation stage with the iThenticate tool.
  • Redundant or duplicate publication.
  • Serious errors that compromise the results or conclusions of the study.
  • Conflicts of interest not declared at the time of submission.
  • Ethical issues related to informed consent or approval by an ethics committee.

Retractions are published as an editorial note, with a link to the original article and an explanation of the reasons for the retraction. The original article remains accessible, marked "Retracted" in all versions (HTML and PDF), preserving the scientific record.

The decision to retract an article will be made by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal, in dialogue with the authors, following the guidelines and workflows recommended by COPE.
