Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of hydrogel for the treatment of chronic wounds. The care for patients with wound is dynamic and must accompany the technical-scientific evolution. Currently the issue of healing of chronic wounds is a daily problem for health workers and the economy of public health. Since the high number of patients with chronic wounds contributes to strain the public spending and also alters the quality of life due to long periods of hospitalization. Although the nursing deal directly with the prevention and treatment of wounds there is still few studies on cost management with the use of technology assessment methodologies. This type of study enables nurses to reflect their importance in decision making at the macro and micro health system.
