Abstract

This study objectified to apprehend the nurse perception concerning the process of nursing and to evaluate the way that the instruments of Nursing Assistance Systematization (SAE) were filled in. It is an assistance convergent research with a qualitative-quantitative approach carried out in São José Hospital of Infectious Diseases in Fortaleza-CE in 2004 and 2005. Eleven nurses were interviewed and 643 forms from the SAE were analyzed. The results indicate: comprehension in the group concerning the importance of SAE; interest in improving the process; inadequate filling of the SAE; its structure requires frequent consultation to the theoretical referential; deficient preparation about assistance methodology in the group. Considering the analyzed aspects, it is recommended to the researched service to carry out workshops in order to elaborate a project to modify the SAE form; to carry out training course and preparation in assistance methodology and execution of the SAE.
